Met PC defies bosses to appear on Nigeria’s Big Brother

Refused permission: PC Khafi Kareem faces an internal inquiry PICTURE: PA

A POLICE officer faces an inquiry after defying her superiors to appear on the Nigerian version of Big Brother.

PC Khafi Kareem, who was pictured alongside Metropolitan Police commissioner Cressida Dick as 100 years of women in the force was celebrated last November, is one of the stars of the African reality TV show — despite being refused permission by her bosses.

The 29-year-old, based at Lambeth police station, has enjoyed an on-screen romance with businessman Ekpata Gedoni, 31, which has kept viewers hooked, according to The Sun.

A colleague told the newspaper: ‘She’s a serving British police officer — it’s outrageous. She asked permission to go on the show but, when her request was refused, she went anyway.’

The website for Africa Magic, the TV channel which broadcasts Big Brother Naija, said Ms Kareem joined the show ‘so she can do societal good’ and would spend the £68,000 prize money on hosting a travel show in Nigeria, as well as charitable causes.

Scotland Yard said it was aware an officer had appeared on the show ‘without authority’ and an investigation would be carried out.
