MEGHAN MARKLE may not be a member of the monarchy yet, but she was treated royally yesterday with a Christmas meal with the Queen, Prince Philip and extended family.
It was only the second public appearance for Prince Harry’s fiancée since their engagement on November 27 and the first time since that she has been seen visiting Buckingham Palace.
But the former Suits actress, 36, was all smiles as she and her future husband drove past waiting crowds.
The Queen and Prince Philip traditionally host a lunch for their family before leaving for the Sandringham estate for Christmas.
It is a chance for family members to catch up — especially those who will not be joining the Queen in Norfolk over the festive period. It has already been confirmed that Meghan will be part of the royal party.
Prince Harry is likely to have introduced Meghan to relatives such as Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, the Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Alexandra.
Also present were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who arrived with their two children, Prince George, four, and two-year-old Princess Charlotte.
Lady Helen Taylor, her husband Timothy and children Estella and Columbus, and Autumn Phillips, wife of Princess Anne’s son Peter, were also seen arriving.
Harry, 33, and his American bride-to-be, who left the lunch at 3pm, will be married on May 19 at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel.
Ace lace as royal dress sells out
FASHION followers of Meghan Markle were left disappointed when her dress for the Queen’s Christmas lunch sold out. The £300 frock from Self-Portrait, with a high-necked lace bodice and black A-line skirt, was listed as unavailable on the firm’s website yesterday.
