Maths degree at 13 equals success

A BOY of 13 has earned a first class honours degree in maths — after studying in his own time.

Wang Pok Lo (pictured) is following up his Open University success with a Masters degree.

The teenager, from South Queensferry near Edinburgh, was doing sums aged two and passed his Advanced Higher Maths exams at 11. He attends a conventional school but will also study a part-time MSc in statistics with medical applications at Sheffield University.

The course is a challenge, he admits. ‘It has become more about concepts which are a lot more abstract,’ he said.
