A MAN who died in the street amid claims he had shot himself was one of three deaths in London in a day as the capital’s murder toll hit 104 this year.
Video footage showed a masked man crouching over him in Sydenham, south London, on Sunday afternoon shouting: ‘He’s shot himself — he’s f***ing shot himself.’ He and two other masked men then ran off when a witness appeared and called emergency services.
The shooting was one of three violent deaths in the capital in 12 hours.
A young mother was later stabbed to death and a man was shot dead in Kentish Town, north London. None of the three deaths are believed to be connected to each other.
Met police murder detectives are now investigating the north London deaths, which happened less than a mile apart.
A woman in her early 20s, named locally as Shakira and said to be the mother of a six-year-old son, was stabbed at 11.15pm on Sunday and died at the scene. Two other women suffered slash wounds and a 35-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Terry Ellis, from Camden Against Violence, said: ‘She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. It wasn’t gang-related.’
Just before midnight a third victim, a man in his 20s, was shot dead. A man called Will said: ‘By the time medics turned up I did about three rounds of CPR and they operated on him straight away but I think he was unsaveable.’
