AN ASYLUM seeker was falsely accused of rape by a waitress who was embarrassed and ashamed about her drunken fling.
The 32-year-old Tirolean woman told her boyfriend the man had forced himself on her, so he insisted she report it to police in Upper Austria.
‘It seemed easier to tell my boyfriend that he forced me into sex rather than admitting I had cheated on him,’ she said.
The 53-year-old African was arrested but police noticed conflicts in her statement and she later admitted she had made it all up.
She told the Austrian court she had not wanted to get him into trouble and said it was more coercion than rape. The man has since accepted her apology and even refused an offer of €300 (£263) compensation.
The unnamed woman was convicted and fined €2,160 for making a false statement.
