DASHCAM footage captures the moment a teenage motorist was seconds from being crushed as a huge tree is blown over in high winds, hitting her car.
Student Abbie Mackay, 19, was driving to her weekend job in a shop when the tree crashed down in front of her Peugeot 308 and smashed her windscreen.
Abbie, from Joy Wood village in Kent, was doing 40mph but slammed on the brakes to avoid the tree coming down on the top of her car and crushing her.
She was left in shock and said: ‘It was absolutely terrifying — I was crying and shaking.’ She called her parents to pick her up on Sunday. She has since suffered intense head and back pain, causing her to take time off her studies.
‘It’s unbelievable, had I gone a tiny bit faster or slower, it all would have been so different,’ she said. PICTURES: ABBIE MACKAY/SWNS
