IT WAS a case of wherefore art thou, Rome-o, as three Love Island wannabes demonstrated their lack of basic geographical knowledge.
Belle Hassan, Joanna Chimonides and Jourdan Riane, who have all entered the villa searching for romance, caused concern among viewers on Saturday’s episode of Unseen Bits.
Their chat followed a debate about whether Edinburgh was in Scotland — which came as a surprise to recruitment consultant Joanna, 22.
She then asked the other two: ‘Is Italy in Rome or Rome in Italy?’ Proud that she knew the answer, 24-year-old model Jourdan replied: ‘Rome is in Italy, Rome is the capital of Italy.’
But Belle, 21, wasn’t convinced, saying: ‘Is it? Is Barcelona in Rome?’ prompting the deadpan response from Jourdan: ‘Barcelona is in Italy.’
‘I thought it was Spanish,’ said Belle, a make-up artist whose father is EastEnders actor Tamer Hassan.
Fans of the ITV2 reality show took to Twitter to discuss the three beauties’ ‘worrying’ conversation. One wrote: ‘OMG, this isn’t even funny and is genuinely concerning.’
Another added: ‘People laugh and find this funny but it’s alarmingly worrying. People aspire to be on this s*** these days instead of something worthwhile. The worlds gone to pot.’
A third posted: ‘There are young girls watching who see the contestants as role models… we are making brainless stupidity something to be aspired to. #ScrapLoveIsland.’
