AT LEAST one person died and 30 others were injured when a passenger train collided with a lorry in Japan.
The crash happened as the lorry, carrying oranges, entered a railway crossing in Yokohama, south of Tokyo.
Emergency crews pulled the lorry driver, in his 60s, from the wreckage but he died later in hospital.
One woman passenger is said to be in a serious condition. A male passenger who was in the front carriage said the train suddenly stopped after he heard a honking, and then he saw a fire.
Rail company Keikyu Corp said the train’s driver had braked sharply as he saw the truck reaching the crossing just before midday yestereday but was unable to stop in time.
