Little piggy hogs limelight as it runs free in city centre

Hot to trotter: The pig that ran loose in Norwich PICTURE: NORFOLK POLICE/PA

A MAN has admitted taking an untethered pig into a busy road in Norwich city centre.

Norfolk police were called to reports a man was shouting and a pig and dog were running loose. The dog bit an officer during the chase.

Sergeant Mark Shepherd posted a snap of the pig on Twitter after it was caught, saying he was ‘lost for words’.

Yesterday Thomas Murphy-Hankin, 26, of no fixed abode, appeared at Norwich magistrates court via videolink and admitted being the owner of a pig which was found straying on a highway, an offence under section 155 of the Highways Act. He also admitted disorderly behaviour but denied being the owner of a dog which was dangerously out of control.

Murphy-Hankin was bailed to appear again at the end of the month.
