TOO many cooks is a problem in any kitchen. But James Brokenshire has retaliated after being accused of having too many cookers.
The housing secretary took a battering at the weekend after posing at home in front of what looked like four ovens — which he insisted are two double ovens.
Tweeting a photo of himself yesterday with a sponge cake, which was taken in 2015, he said: ‘Amazing what you can rustle up! Maybe some more hot potatoes next! #twoovens.’
It was compared by some to the apocryphal Marie Antoinette quote ‘let them eat cake’.
Critics said Mr Brokenshire’s home comforts jarred with austerity — with Labour pointing out no new homes were built in his Bexley constituency in the last financial year.
