Leonardo DiCaprio’s fund gives $1m to Harvey victims as Rita Ora lends a hand

LEONARDO DICAPRIO’S foundation has given $1million (£775,000) to help the Hurricane Harvey relief effort.

The charity, set up by the Hollywood actor in 1998, accepts donations from the public and sent the cash to the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund.

United Way president Brian Gallagher said: ‘Responding to Hurricane Harvey requires the best of all of us — and that’s what this gift represents.’

The donation came after actress Sandra Bullock made a personal $1million pledge to the American Red Cross to help victims.

Comedian Kevin Hart gave $50,000 (£39,000) and challenged other stars to help — prompting DJ Khaled and actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to give $25,000 (£19,000) each.

Singer Rita Ora gave up some of her time during a promotional trip to Dallas to help deliver aid.
