NIGEL FARAGE has been sharing his London ‘bachelor pad’ with a younger French woman at the centre of Ukip funding allegations, it has emerged.
Former waitress Laure Ferrari (above) has been living in the former party leader’s rented £4million Georgian house in Chelsea for the past week, according to The Mail on Sunday.
Married Mr Farage, 52, told the newspaper that he was helping out the 37-year-old because she needed accommodation.
When asked if they were having an affair, he replied: ‘I’m not answering ludicrous questions, like have you ever held her hand, ever had dinner with her.
‘She is someone I have worked with and known well for a long time who wanted somewhere to stay for a week that wouldn’t cost her any money. It’s a working relationship.’
It has emerged Ms Ferrari also accompanied Mr Farage to an event in Washington DC last month to celebrate the election of Donald Trump as US president.
She runs the Institute for Direct Democracy in Europe (IDDE), a think tank at the centre of allegations that it had made ‘impermissible donations’ to Ukip.
The party denies the claims, which are being investigated by the Electoral Commission.
Ms Ferrari, who first became involved in politics as a result of a chance meeting with Mr Farage ten years ago while she was working as a waitress in Strasbourg, said she had been forced to move out of her own flat after the European Parliament stopped IDDE’s funding.
‘I have no trustworthy friends in London who could have hosted me. I asked and he accepted,’ she told the newspaper. ‘He is just trying to be helpful,’
She, too, denied any affair, saying: ‘You are putting two and two together, but it is not as simple as that. I cannot stop people from fantasising.
‘I am not pleased to be in this situation and I am so sorry it is bringing awful things on Nigel’s life and on my life.’
Ms Ferrari appears to have been a fan of Mr Farage for a long time, and tweeted in 2013: ‘Why do more women want to bed Nigel Farage over David Cameron?’
Last month, Mr Farage told The Mail on Sunday he spent most week nights at a ‘bachelor pad’ and denied that he had split from his German-born second wife Kirsten.
Yesterday, she appeared without her wedding ring and refused to answer questions at the couple’s house in Biggin Hill, Kent.
