Kirstie Alley: Oscars ruling a ‘disgrace to artists’

KIRSTIE ALLEY has attacked Academy Awards bosses following a new ruling that films hoping to qualify for the best picture Oscar must meet diversity guidelines.

Studios aiming for a nomination will be required to take on a number of cast, crew and executives from ‘under-represented groups’.

But Look Who’s Talking star Alley, 69, tweeted: ‘This is a disgrace to artists everywhere… Can you imagine telling Picasso what had to be in his f***ing paintings. You people have lost your minds. Control artists, control individual thought… OSCAR ORWELL.’

The new regulations will come into force for the 96th Oscars ceremony in 2025.
