Jamie Oliver paid £5.2m as restaurant empire fell

JAMIE OLIVER took a £5.2million payout last year — before the collapse of his UK restaurant business, which resulted in around 1,000 job losses.

The celebrity chef’s food and media empire saw pre-tax profits fall to £7.8million in the year to December after it was hit by £9.8million in costs trying to prop up the ailing UK restaurant arm, accounts reveal. The chain went into administration in May, closing all but three of its 25 restaurants.

The dividend paid to Oliver was down from £8.6million the year before.
