Jail for jealous mother who stabbed and bit her girlfriend

A JEALOUS mother-of-two has been jailed after she stabbed and mauled her same-sex partner who had playfully smacked a friend’s bottom during a pub crawl.

Paula Goodwin (pictured) knifed Clerice McQuade twice in the legs with an 18in kitchen knife and sank her teeth into her thigh after taking exception to the prank.

Miss McQuade, in her 30s, had a hearing aid pulled out, was punched in the face and grabbed by the hair. Fearing for her life, she crawled into the street outside the couple’s home in Middleton, Greater Manchester, where a neighbour called an ambulance on May 1 last year.

Goodwin, 40, pleaded guilty at the city’s Minshull Street crown court to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Her counsel Jason Macadam said she had mixed her medication for bipolar disorder with alcohol and ‘has no recollection of violence’.

Jailing Goodwin for two years and imposing a restraining order, Judge Maurice Greene said: ‘This was a serious case of domestic violence.’
