A CHICKEN nugget has been sent into space for the first time, reaching more than 110,000ft — or the height of around 880,000 of the snacks.
A team of experts launched the kids’ treat in to the stratosphere using a weather balloon filled with lighter-than-air hydrogen with a camera attached to film the trip.
Supermarket Iceland teamed up with Sent Into Space at the firm’s head office in Deeside, North Wales, to send the nugget up.
The wacky expedition marked the firm’s 50th birthday.
‘What better way to show that our products are out of this world than by sending one of our customer favourites into space?’ said trading director Andrew Staniland.
