YOU could call it a case of mistaken identikitty…
Cat owner Tadeu Vaccari is furious after a cattery handed his pet, Bruce, over to another family in error.
The software developer left the two-year-old tabby at Christchurch Cattery in Bournemouth while he and wife Fernanda holidayed in Brazil last month.
But halfway through their break, staff got in touch to explain Bruce had been mistakenly collected by the owners of a near-identical cat, called Oscar. And by the time they realised the mix-up, Bruce, who had been let out of the house, had disappeared.
Mr Vaccari, 39, said: ‘I can’t believe they gave back the wrong cat. You would have thought they would be used to taking care not to confuse them.’
He has put up posters for information about Bruce’s whereabouts and searched the two-mile radius from his home in Boscombe to Southbourne, where the cat went missing, every day — but without success.
‘Bruce is not an outside cat normally,’ he said. ‘We are heartbroken and just want him home, safe and well.’
Dawn Pennock, from the cattery, said she was ‘devastated and truly sorry’ for the error. ‘Even the customer who collected Bruce didn’t notice any differences from their own cat,’ she said.
