THE Lib Dems are threatening legal action against ITV if the broadcaster does not include Jo Swinson in its televised leaders’ debate.
Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn are set to go head-to-head on ITV on November 19. And Ms Swinson said debates about who will be the next PM ‘cannot and should not exclude the only woman leader who is able to be the next prime minister’.
She said it was ‘important that millions of Remainers can make sure their voice is represented, that it is a fair debate between the different options on offer, and that for the girls and young women across our country they see that women can be political leaders and prime ministers too’.
ITV has said it is already scheduling a separate live debate involving seven party leaders, including Ms Swinson, as well as the head-to-head.
Last night Ms Swinson confirmed she is due to appear on a proposed Sky News debate with Mr Johnson and Mr Corbyn on November 28. She tweeted: ‘I’m in. Will you show up?’
