I only agreed to go on Strictly if partner was a woman, says Adams

NICOLA ADAMS said she is in the ballroom to box down boundaries after revealing she got her historic Strictly Come Dancing spot by insisting she was paired with a woman.

The boxer, 37, will be part of the BBC One show’s first same-sex couple.

Adams, who admitted she ‘can’t dance at all’, told BBC Breakfast: ‘They wanted to know if I wanted to be on the show but I said, “I will do it but I want to dance with another female dance partner”.’

The gold medal-winning Olympian, who is dating Ella Baig, added: ‘It’s amazing to be a part of the movement for change, diversity and breaking boundaries.’ She joins contestants including Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh and singer Max George.
