Hooray for our heroes

‘As the daughter of a nurse, I have such a massive respect for all the frontline staff and NHS workers that are helping us through this unprecedented situation. I know the hard work and sacrifice they put in every day with very little appreciation up until now. I hope more than anything that this crisis has changed the way this country views its healthcare and key workers. I’m sure I speak for us all when I say that we are incredibly grateful to each and every one of them.’ Melody Kane (main picture), Radio 1extra DJ

‘A massive thank you to the NHS. We are so grateful, and we are with you all at this time. You are all angels!’ Harry Derbidge, reality star

‘My gran tested positive for coronavirus a few weeks ago and was able to be sent home from hospital only because her care workers still went in to support her every day. Without them she would have been helpless as I’ve been stuck abroad, and my parents have been unwell with the virus. My granny Jean is in her 90s and has many other long-term health conditions, yet, miraculously, she has beaten the virus. We are hugely thankful. My gran’s care workers have played a massive role in her recovery and keeping her safe. I’d like to thank them, and other care workers across the country for helping so many people on a daily basis.’ Amy Willerton, TV Presenter

‘It’s difficult to find the words to describe the efforts of key workers during this dreadful time. They’re called key workers because they are playing a key role in keeping life in this country going. Whether it’s saving lives, caring for the elderly and most vulnerable, or making sure we have food to eat, I am humbled by ‘‘ordinary’’ people who are doing truly extraordinary things. I’d like to say a personal thank you to each and every key worker. My thoughts are with you as you go about your day-to-day work. You’re the real celebrities!’ Duncan Bannatyne, entrepreneur
