MEL GIBSON says he is amazed Hollywood has accepted him back after his reputation collapsed in the past decade.
The 61-year-old Hacksaw Ridge director’s image dived after anti-Semitic rants during a drink-drive arrest in 2006 and he pleaded no contest to battering his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva four years later.
He told The Graham Norton show: ‘I’m surprised as I have been digging a ditch for the past ten years. It has been a lot of hard work personally and professionally, but the work goes on.’
Gibson (pictured) added that he resurrected his career by expressing himself through storytelling and directing.
The show is on BBC One at 10.35pm tonight.
