THE daughter of an Ukrainian oligarch who killed six people is serving her time in a jail boasting a swimming pool, hairdresser and whirlpool baths.
Alyona Zaitseva had run a red light in her Lexus at 62mph, ramming pedestrians and leaving six dead and five injured in her hometown of Kharkiv. Earlier this year, the 22-year-old admitted dangerous driving resulting in death and injury.
She is serving a ten-year stint at the luxury Pokrovsky Correctional Centre No. 79 in Pokrov, which social media users have criticised as a ‘holiday resort’, it has now been revealed.
Zaitseva’s tycoon father Vasily Zaitsev, 61 — the CEO of energy firm Ukrenergochermet — had previously appealed to victims, saying: ‘On our knees we are asking families of the perished and injured to forgive our daughter.’ Also jailed was Gennadiy Dronov, 49, who Zaitseva collided with when he drove forward on an amber light. The pair were told to pay a total of £245,000 compensation.
