A PAIR of John Lennon’s trademark round sunglasses are going under the hammer next month.
Alan Herring, who was the driver for some of the Beatles, is selling the specs among items of Fab Four memorabilia such as a parking ticket slapped on Ringo Starr’s car. Mr Herring kept the £2 parking ticket after it was issued on April 25, 1969, outside Apple records in Savile Row. It is expected to fetch £1,500 at Sotheby’s online sale from December 6-13.
Lennon had told Mr Herring to keep his sunglasses after he left them on the back seat of Ringo’s Mercedes in 1968.
Sotheby’s expert Gabriel Heaton called the glasses, expected to fetch £8,000, ‘so representative of the cultural moment’ and ‘an integral part of John Lennon’s image’.
