HELEN SKELTON has told how a phone scam cost her £70,000.
The BBC Countryfile presenter (pictured), 36, lost her lifetime’s savings after she answered a ‘few questions’ from someone she thought was from her bank.
The mum-of-two told TV’s Lorraine Kelly: ‘I got phoned up and told something dodgy had been going on with my account. A week later £70,000, all my savings, had gone. And it was just a few questions over the phone.’ Former Blue Peter star Skelton is currently making a programme for ITV about the dangers of scamming.
She said it would be ‘naive’ to think victims were all ‘little old ladies who don’t understand the internet’, adding: ‘It happens every day of the week.’
