Heaven sent! Postie’s reply to grieving boy

Still in his thoughts: Jase with dad James, who died in 2014

A BOY of seven sent a birthday card to his late father ‘in heaven’ — and received a tear-jerking reply.

Jase Hyndman penned a note to his dad James, asking on the envelope: ‘Mr postman, can you take this to heaven for my dad’s birthday? Thanks.’

Days later, he received a letter from Royal Mail’s Sean Milligan that said posties had avoided ‘stars and other galactic objects’ to safely ‘deliver your letter to your dad in heaven’.

Jase’s mother, Teri Copland, uploaded the reply to Facebook and it has been shared more than 200,000 times. ‘I cannot state how emotional Jase is knowing his dad got his card,’ she said.

‘Royal Mail, you’ve restored my faith in humanity. He was overwhelmed and kept saying, “Dad really got my letter, mum”.’

Ms Copland, of West Lothian, said Jase and sister Neive, ten, have marked their dad’s birthday every year since his death in May 2014.

Praising Royal Mail, she added: ‘I want people to realise a small gesture of kindness can have such a fantastic impact on someone’s life.’
