THE son of Welsh politician Carl Sargeant has hit out at attempts to ‘blacken’ his name following an inquest into his death.
Mr Sargeant (pictured), 49, was found hanged at his home in Connah’s Quay, Flintshire, in November 2017. His death came four days after he was sacked by then first minister Carwyn Jones from his job as cabinet secretary for communities and children. It followed claims he groped and touched women.
Yesterday, after senior coroner for North Wales John Gittins ruled his death was suicide, Mr Sargeant’s son Jack said: ‘All too often politics have been at play with the sole aim of blackening a dead man’s name to protect another. I feel dad was let down by Carwyn Jones.’
