Gong-ho: Bikers Holly and Phil roar on set after NTA win

HOLLY WILLOUGHBY and Phillip Schofield hitched a ride to their This Morning studio on motorbikes after celebrating picking up gongs at the National Television Awards.

The pair won best daytime show for the ninth year running but warned they were nursing hangovers after whooping it up at the O2 arena in London.

ITV’s This Morning opened with Alison Hammond welcoming viewers on her own, saying: ‘We had a big night last night after our ninth year in a row and it’s all thanks to you.’

She added: ‘Obviously Phil and Holly had the best time last night and I’m not sure where they are.’

The leather-clad hosts then arrived in the studio on bikes, with Schofield saying: ‘I’m about to be sick in the helmet,’ adding: ‘That was a hell of a club.’

Willoughby said to Hammond: ‘You can do the rest of it if you want to, that’s fine by us.’

She added: ‘What an amazing night, it is just such a special night, thank you so, so, so much. It’s really mad this is our ninth in a row.

‘It was a really emotional night, I was all over the place. People think you come here every year but it does mean so much and people say the nicest things.’

Schofield, who appeared to be nursing a hangover, told Willoughby: ‘I’m worse than you this year.’ He seemed to find a cooking segment, in which the Hairy Bikers prepared a full English breakfast on pizza, a particular challenge.

He said to viewers: ‘We never take it for granted, we are so grateful and it means so much for us, and it means so much to our team.’

Willoughby shared a photo on Instagram of the pair backstage clutching their award, as Schofield swigged from a hip flask.

She wrote: ‘Wow… what a night….THANK YOU!!!!!!! You are the best… we love doing the show and LOVE that you love it too’.’

The duo further warned of their hangover when a teaser for Wednesday’s show, aired 15 minutes before it began, showed the gong positioned between two fizzing glasses — presumably of rehydrating drinks — with two shaking hands reaching for them.

The banner said: ‘We’re live at 10:30, hopefully!’
