A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl has been pulled alive from the rubble of an eight-storey building that collapsed in Istanbul, killing at least three people.
Havva Tekgoz was found 18 hours after the catastrophe and was immediately rushed to hospital, Turkish emergency services said.
Her rescue came several hours after a nine-year-old boy was also pulled from the debris. At least 13 — including the two children — were rescued.
Authorities investigating the collapse on Wednesday said the top three floors were illegally built. The building housed 43 people in 14 flats. Rescuers were reportedly ‘receiving sounds’ from the rubble yesterday.
Istanbul governor Ali Yerlikaya said three of the people saved were in a serious condition. He added: ‘All our prayers, all our hearts are with them.’
