GARETH SOUTHGATE welcomed England’s World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan to St George’s Park as the Three Lions boss plots his own bid for glory on home soil at Euro 2020.
Morgan, who led England to an unforgettable Lord’s final victory over New Zealand, visited Southgate and his squad ahead of tomorrow’s qualifier against the Czech Republic in Prague.
Southgate, a big fan of cricket, previously gave a talk to Morgan’s team in May before the Cricket World Cup.
Meanwhile, England’s record wicket-taker James Anderson will be helped in his bid to overcome his recent calf troubles by champions Manchester City. The injury restricted Anderson to only four overs on the first morning of the Ashes series and he will train at City’s Etihad Campus over the next two months, using their world-class facilities alongside England’s strength and conditioning team, in an effort to be fit for this winter’s tour to South Africa.
Anderson has already been ruled out of the forthcoming trip to New Zealand but is hoping to be available for England’s four-Test series against the Proteas, which gets under way on Boxing Day.
