EVERTON boss Marco Silva has played down speculation linking Idrissa Gueye with a summer switch to Manchester United and he also hopes to keep Kurt Zouma and Andre Gomes. Gueye, known as Gana, has been a regular under Silva this season but it has been reported the Senegal midfielder is wanted by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But Silva said: ‘It’s news to me. What’s important, if you’re asking about Gana, is how he’s performing well.’
Blackpool spared points deduction
LEAGUE One Blackpool will not lose any points after February’s appointment of joint receivers, the English Football League has said. Under EFL rules, clubs that experience an ‘insolvency event’, such as being placed in administration, tend to lose 12 points as they are seen to have gained an unfair advantage by shedding debts met by better-run clubs. But the EFL board has decided this is a special case.
Saints are wary of Wolves’ threat
SOUTHAMPTON boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has warned Wolves will provide just as tough a test in their Premier League survival battle as title-chasing Liverpool. ‘[Wolves are] one of the best organised teams in the league,’ Hassenhuttl said ahead of their visit tomorrow. ‘They have made a fantastic job this year, beating a lot of big teams also.’
