A BRITISH man evacuated from Wuhan punched the air and shouted ‘We’re free!’ as he left quarantine yesterday.
Matt Raw, 38, was among 83 people allowed out of isolation at Arrowe Park Hospital in the Wirral after two weeks.
Mr Raw, from Knutsford, Cheshire, was ‘ecstatic’ that he, his wife Ying, also 38, and his 75-year-old mother Hazel — along with everyone else on their evacuation flight — tested negative for the virus.
He said: ‘It is absolutely lovely to be out and I’ll no doubt be going out for a pint a little bit later.’ Mr Raw said books and board games donated by the public had kept them entertained and praised NHS staff who made them feel they were ‘just on holiday’.
Public Health England’s Dr William Welfare thanked those at Arrowe Park ‘for their patience and support’. About 200 people are still in quarantine at Kents Hill Park in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
