Fox on the Box: Sandra Redknapp helps hubby Harry bank latest home victory

Filling a hole: Redknapp Jr with his dad and Davis

SINCE hanging up his managerial jacket in 2017 we have seen a lot of Harry Redknapp, and his house, on our television screens. He famously won the jungle crown in I’m A Celebrity… in 2018 and more recently has done his bit for Dorset tourism by inviting mates such as Razor Ruddock down to his home by the sea for Harry’s Sandbanks Summer.

Last week we were in his back garden as Harry showed us how he keeps his two bulldogs amused during the lockdown in How to Keep Your Dog Happy at Home and on Friday we again joined him at his south-coast retreat, this time for Redknapp’s Home Fixture.

In this latest venture, however, Harry very much plays second fiddle to son Jamie, who takes the leading role for this six-part football entertainment show. Owing to the ongoing lockdown, the pair — along with fellow co-host comedian Tom Davis and guests — can only get together via video link, hence the reason for another visit to Harry’s beachside gaff.

‘We’re here to fill that sport-shaped hole in your lives,’ said Jamie while perched on a kitchen stool in front of his pool table before we were welcomed into the homes of athlete Dina Asher-Smith, flanked by her Sports Personality of the Year award, footballer Troy Deeney beside arty flower pots and West Ham skipper Mark Noble with an imposing portrait of a lion on his wall.

The most intriguing of these home visits, however, came courtesy of boxing promoter Eddie Hearn — although, glimpses of Harry’s wife Sandra appearing, disappearing and then reappearing behind her husband’s shoulder like a Sandbanks spook came a close second.

Back at Chez Hearn we found Eddie relaxing in what was seemingly his bedroom which not only featured a Tyson Fury-sized stuffed toy dog beside him on the bed but a huge dining room table with six matching chairs by the window.

From his over-furnished boudoir Eddie said his fighters, including Anthony Joshua, were fit and ready to go as soon as lockdown eased, adding: ‘People are going to be dying for live sport.’

We will be welcomed back at Harry and Jamie’s this week [Fri, Sky One, 10pm]. You are unlikely to see another bedroom quite like Eddie’s but if you’re lucky, you may spot Sandra.
