Festive ice rink gets a frosty reception

A FESTIVE attraction that can be used by only five skaters at a time has been dubbed ‘Britain’s worst ice rink’.

The rink, surrounded by metal fences, is in a car park at the back of a shopping centre and opposite a branch of Sports Direct in Lichfield, Staffordshire.

The attraction, which costs £3 for 20 minutes, is the size of an average driveway. It features model penguins and life-size toy soldiers but due to health and safety concerns, numbers are limited to five people.

One parent wrote on social media that they ‘thought someone had dumped a whiteboard’. David Trivett added: ‘I’ve slipped on a bigger frozen puddle.’

But Suz Neill said: ‘Glad Lichfield did it but if you’re over 4ft tall you’re not going to do a lot of skating on a postage stamp ice rink. Great for the kids, would have been nicer if bigger.’
