CONCERN was growing last night for the safety of a junior doctor whose car was found abandoned on the coast.
Dr Lauren Phillips, 26, has not been seen for two weeks and police issued an alert after she failed to turn up for work at Bristol’s Southmead Hospital.
Police, the coastguard and RNLI have been searching after her car was found more than 100 miles away on February 28 in Woolacombe, north Devon.
Last year she vented her anger online about a new contract for junior doctors and at those implying she was ‘a bad/greedy person for wanting to protect the future of the NHS’.
Monica Baird, of North Bristol NHS Trust said Dr Phillips was ‘a valued member of staff’. Last year Dr Rose Polge, 25, who worked at Torbay Hospital, took her own life off the Dorset coast. Her family warned of stress among junior doctors.
