Extinction rebels ‘give Swampy hope’

VETERAN eco-warrior ‘Swampy’ says Extinction Rebellion has given him fresh hope of environmental change.

The 46-year-old — real name Daniel Hooper — yesterday faced court in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire for his part in a protest against oil refinery Valero. He was fined £157 after admitting wilful obstruction of a road. Hooper became a national figure in the 1990s after living in a tunnel to protest the rerouting of the A30 in Devon.

He told ITV News he was almost at the point of apathy ‘towards how we can change things’, then ‘Extinction Rebellion started happening’.
