ALL of the Premier League’s openly gay players will join a parade in an open-top bus tomorrow. And if you’re wondering who they are, you’re not alone — the bus at Brighton Pride will be empty.
The stunt, by Paddy Power, is designed to highlight that none of the league’s 500 or so players is openly gay, and to encourage clubs to be more welcoming to LGBT+ people.
The bookmaker said one in 50 people consider themselves LGBT+.
‘And yet, in the Premier League, not one player is openly gay. So we’re calling on the league to boot itself into 2018, and create a welcoming environment for its first gay player,’ it added.
Metro teamed up with LGBT+ charity Stonewall and Paddy Power in 2014 for the ‘rainbow laces’ campaign to tackle homophobia in football.
