EIGHT people were killed and more than 50 others injured when a stadium wall collapsed at a football match in Senegal.
Fighting had broken out between rival US Ouakam and Stade de Mbour fans. The wall at the Demba Diop stadium in Dakar fell as police fired tear gas and fans stampeded.
The violence was condemned by a government spokesman who announced an investigation.
A ban on sports and cultural activities has been announced leading up to parliamentary elections on July 30.
