Donald Trump: Too many US coronavirus cases, so slow down testing

DONALD TRUMP told his team to slow down coronavirus testing because too many cases were being found, he has claimed.

At a rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the US president said 25million people in the country had been tested.

‘When you do testing to that extent, you’re going to find more people, you’re going to find more cases,’ he said on Saturday. ‘So I said to my people, “Slow the testing down, please”. They test and they test.’

The comments came at Mr Trump’s first campaign rally in 110 days, held despite concerns over the virus.

In a campaign statement, Democrat rival Joe Biden called the speech ‘outrageous’, and accused the president of putting politics ahead of ‘the safety of the American people’.

He added: ‘To hear him say that he has ordered testing slowed — a transparent attempt to make the numbers look better — is appalling.’

The outbreak has killed around 120,000 people in the US so far.
