DONALD TRUMP mocked rival Democrats yesterday after the first round of voting to choose their presidential nominee descended into chaos.
The Iowa ballot was supposed to kick-off the party’s push to pick its candidate to take on Mr Trump in November’s election. But an app used to record results crashed.
A gloating Mr Trump (pictured) tweeted: ‘The Democrat Caucus is an unmitigated disaster. Nothing works, just like they ran the Country… The only person that can claim a very big victory in Iowa last night is “Trump”.’ Official results were due to be released last night, almost 24 hours late. Early indications led to Bernie Sanders’s campaign staff claiming their man was on course for victory.
They estimated he had won nearly 30 per cent of the vote, with Pete Buttigieg on 25 per cent and Elizabeth Warren on 21 per cent.
Former vice president Joe Biden was on course to finish a distant fourth with 12 per cent
Mr Sanders told supporters he had ‘a good feeling we’re going to be doing very, very well here in Iowa’.
He added: ‘Today marks the beginning of the end for Donald Trump.’
■ US radio host Rush Limbaugh has revealed he’s been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. The Republican icon, 69, told listeners it was confirmed in late January and he wanted to avoid speculation. ‘But it is what it is. And you know me, I’m the mayor of Realville,’ he said.
