Donald Trump blasts Boris Johnson over UK lockdowns

DONALD TRUMP has attacked Boris Johnson for ramping up coronavirus restrictions, insisting the ‘cure cannot be worse than the problem.’

The US president posted footage of the press conference on Saturday at which the prime minister delivered news of the Tier 4 restrictions and the scaling back of Christmas relaxations.

‘We don’t want to have lockdowns,’ he wrote on Twitter.

‘The cure cannot be worse than the problem itself!’

Mr Trump has been slammed for his handling of the pandemic in the US, which has recorded the world’s worst death toll of more than 315,000.

In another tweet — featuring more footage of Mr Johnson — he insisted other countries were also suffering.

‘The entire WORLD is being badly hurt by the China Virus, but if you listen to the Fake News Lamestream Media, and Big Tech, you would think that we are the only one,’ he wrote.

‘No, but we are the country that developed vaccines, and years ahead of schedule!’

The US Congress was poised last night to vote on a £665billion Covid-19 aid package as the country’s daily infection rate topped 400,000.

Tech giant Apple said it was shutting all 53 stores in California amid a surge in west coast cases.

But there was good news as the distribution of Moderna’s vaccine began on Saturday, with more than 3,700 sites due to start receiving and administering shots as soon as today.
