A HARLEY Street doctor faces being struck off for starting an ‘inappropriate’ relationship with a patient who is set to become her husband.
Dr Natalia Bogatcheva, 40, met the property developer at the Roc Clinic in London in 2016. The pair, who plan to get married this year, now live together and have a son.
She faces a misconduct charge after her boss Dr Cristiana Romete allegedly caught her accessing the man’s medical records when she became suspicious of his ex-girlfriend moving into one of his flats.
Dr Bogatcheva denies starting a relationship with the man, referred to as Patient A, while she was treating him between February and May 2016.
In a statement, the man told a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service panel that when the relationship started he had not seen her as a patient for some time, adding: ‘It wasn’t teen lust.’
The ‘avid skier and horse rider’ asked Dr Bogatcheva out for coffee in June, followed by other dates that ‘led to our son being born, buying our house and getting married’. He admitted they argued that October over a friend ‘taking advantage’ of him but said: ‘I don’t think it was inappropriate for her to be looking at my medical records.’
He added: ‘Since then my relationship with Natalia has flourished, my life has flourished and my work-life has been getting better and better. I didn’t feel trapped by it, I was accepting of it. We are going to get married this year and I plan to remain together until I die.’ The doctor, of Crouch End, north London, denies misconduct. The hearing continues.
