THIS is the heart-stopping moment a diver came face-to-face with an inquisitive blue shark, which appeared to give him a kiss.

Marine scientist Kevin Schmidt was leading an expedition off the coast of Cape Town when the incredible encounter took place.

The moment was captured by British photographer Steve Woods as the shark gracefully approached the diver before nibbling at his goggles.

Mr Schmidt said the shark showed no sign of aggression and simply using its electro-receptors, located around its mouth, to try to figure out what he was.

He said staring into the shark’s mouth was a moment to ‘treasure forever’. Mr Woods called it ‘a little blue kiss’.
