DENISE WELCH says she won’t be letting trolls tell her what to wear, after posting a picture of herself in a bikini earlier this week.
The former Coronation Street and Waterloo Road actress celebrated her 60th earlier this year, but came in for some criticism after sharing before and after shots — both of her wearing a bikini — documenting her weight loss.
In the accompanying caption, Denise celebrated losing 2 stone 5 pounds in nine weeks and keeping the weight off.
She went on to wax lyrical about the plan she used, saying it helped reverse her ‘crooked thinking’ around food, and even apologised for the revealing snaps, saying: ‘Sorry about the bikini shot but needed to prove my point!!’
But the Loose Women panellist was unrepentant about the pics when asked what she thought about people telling her to cover up.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the mum of two — including The 1975 frontman Matthew Healy — said: ‘I don’t care about the knockers [trolls] — no pun intended. I’m not going to have anyone tell me that I can’t wear a bikini at 60.
‘I’ve got a wobbly arse, my boobs aren’t in the right place. I’ve got bumps and lumps and a tummy and I’ve had two children. But I don’t look bad for an old bird.
‘I’m proud of how I look at 60 and I’m not trying to look 30. That’s the message I’m trying to deliver. So if I’m still getting my kit off at 90, so be it. Sorry, children!’
Denise has been open about her battles with drink and drugs before getting sober in 2012, but says she is now very happy with her life and even happier to be very much ‘visible’ at 60.
‘I’ve got lots of work when many women are saying they feel invisible. I feel very visible,’ she said.
