THE father of a British backpacker missing in Cambodia fears she has been abducted.
Amelia Bambridge (pictured) was last seen on the island of Koh Rong late on Wednesday. Staff at Police Beach, a private venue that stages regular events, found the 21-year-old’s purple rucksack, containing her purse, phone and bank cards, the following morning.
About 150 volunteers and Cambodian police are searching for Ms Bambridge.
Her father Phil Bambridge, who has travelled to Koh Rong, said he believed she had been ‘taken’. ‘I don’t think she’s had an accident. If she’d had an accident she would have been found by now,’ he told Sky News.
Ms Bambridge, from Worthing, Sussex, set off on her trip on September 27, when she flew to Vietnam. On the day she went missing, she called her younger sister Georgie and said she was having ‘the best time ever’.
Police chief Maj Gen Chuon Narin could not say if she ‘was killed or got lost in the jungle’.
