Turkish boxers contract virus after London bout
BOXING: Two Turkish boxers and a head coach have reportedly tested positive for coronavirus following an Olympic tournament in London. Turkish Boxing Federation president Eyup Gozgec said: ‘I am baffled that an IOC taskforce and the British government allowed the tournament to start even though many of us had concerns and almost every other sport had shut down.’
Amir offers Bolton venue to help NHS
BOXING: Former world champion Amir Khan has offered his refurbished wedding venue in Bolton to help the NHS. The 33-year-old tweeted: ‘I am aware of how difficult it is for the public to get a hospital bed in this tragic time. I am prepared to give my building to the @NHSuk to help people affected by the coronavirus.’
■ TENNIS: Roger Federer has donated almost £860,000 to Switzerland’s most vulnerable families in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. He joins the likes of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in making a sizeable donation to help as the world battles the virus.
