Cig as a parrot! ‘Boy’ smoker at footie game is 36 years old

Caught on camera: The ‘boy’, sitting beside another youngster, puffs on a cigarette

IT’S an image that sent shockwaves around the world — a ‘young boy’ smoking a cigarette at a charity football match to raise funds for cancer.

Viewers tuning in to watch the game between Turkish sides Fenerbahce S.K. and Bursaspor were outraged when cameras caught the ‘child’ having a crafty puff before the players came out on to the pitch.

Proceeds from the match, attended by thousands of fans, were going to cancer charities and Down’s syndrome children.

Relaxed: The ‘boy’ enjoying the game

Sat beside another youngster, the ‘boy’, wearing a green Bursaspor scarf and team shirt, stares into the distance and inhales deeply.

The video was posted online and went viral, and a Twitter campaign was launched to identify him.

Now it can be revealed that he is in fact a 36-year-old man — and the lad sitting next to him is his son. But the youthful-looking dad could still be in trouble.

Smoking in public places in Turkey is against the law and carries a fine of 69 lira (£13). It is unclear if authorities will be following up the matter.
