VISITORS to a chocolate festival have demanded a refund after branding the event ‘appalling’ and ‘embarrassing’.

The touring Fantastical Chocolate Festival promised a day of ‘delectable confectionery and chocolatiers’.

But some who paid up to £17.25 a ticket for the event in Bristol described it as a ‘complete rip-off’ on the festival’s Facebook page.

Lucy Gregory shared a photo of Sunday’s empty-looking venue, writing: ‘If you’re expecting a chocolate full-on festival, don’t bother. Picture says it all.’

Georgie Kovacs added: ‘I have never been at an event as badly organised as this. There were no special cakes or creations, only standard cakes that any six-year-old could make. It was like a poorly organised school party.’

Tickets for the event at the Passenger Shed venue cost £6.90 to £10.35 for children and £10.35 to £17.25 for adults.

Not so goodie: ‘Tiny’ bag of sweets

Goodie bags cost an extra £3.50 for children and £7 for adults and were a ‘tiny bag of horrible pick ’n mix sweets’, said Hana Honey, from Swindon. She added: ‘This event is poorly run and hideously overpriced.’

Ends in tiers: The chocolate fountains

In a statement, the organisers said: ‘We would like to apologise to any guests who did not have a positive experience. We are listening to feedback very carefully to make significant improvements.’
