Cereal-ist art of cornflakes

Selection box: Royal Academy artwork is made up of 84 cornflakes in cases

IT MAY not be to everyone’s artistic taste but, with a splash of milk, it would make a good breakfast.

Taxonomy Of The Cornflake, featured in the Royal Academy’s summer exhibition in London, consists of 84 specimens of cereal in individual cases.

Artist Anne Griffiths searched through flakes from 11 brands, comparing the likes of Whole Earth Organic with humble Tesco Everyday Value, to find what she felt were striking examples.

‘Every single one is unique,’ said the 54-year-old from Wantage, Oxfordshire, who wanted to reflect how displaying objects can alter perceptions of them.

Was Anne tempted to taste her art? She prefers toast and marmalade.
