BURNLEY’S Ashley Barnes will see a specialist to determine the full extent of a troublesome groin injury.
The striker, who has struggled with the problem for several weeks, is set to miss tomorrow’s Premier League trip to Chelsea having also sat out last week’s FA Cup win over Peterborough.
The Clarets’ bid to put a miserable Christmas period behind them is hardly helped by fellow striker Jay Rodriguez and defender Phil Bardsley being doubts through illness.
‘We’ll almost definitely be missing Barnesy,’ said Dyche, whose side have lost their last three league matches.
‘He’s been going on with things and trying to get through a period with an overuse injury. Bardo and Jay-Rod are both ill. They have been since Monday, so it’s a deeper thing than just a bug.
‘We’ll see whether they’re available tomorrow. We keep getting nearly back and then we get another knock.’
A hamstring is keeping Johann Berg Gudmundsson out but Chris Wood has overcome the same problem, while Ben Gibson (groin) is back in training.
And Dyche does not expect much transfer activity at Turf Moor this month despite their injury worries.
‘You’ve got to have the money,’ he said. ‘That’s the starting point — I’m still not clear on what’s available and what will be available.’
