JEWISH Labour MP Luciana Berger is being ‘bullied’ by her constituency party in an attempt to deselect her, deputy leader Tom Watson claimed.
Members in Liverpool Wavertree face an investigation after ‘trying to drive out’ the anti-Semitism campaigner with a no-confidence vote, he said. A motion accused her of ‘continually using the media to criticise’ Jeremy Corbyn.
But Mr Watson said: ‘She’s been the subject of anti-Semitic death threats, she’s been intimidated, she’s been bullied and I don’t want any MP to feel they are being bullied or driven out.’
The constituency party said it was in ‘solidarity with Luciana as a victim of misogyny and anti-Semitism’. Any suggestion it was ‘party to bullying and anti-Semitism is false,’ it added.
